About

Who am I? What can I do for you? And what does ‘Intuitive Fitness’ mean?

Health

I’m a ‘health first’ personal trainer. I don’t believe that a smaller body size equates to health, I believe that you can be healthy at every size.

Fitness

I can improve your fitness and help you become faster, stronger, increase your flexibility and confidence and feel healthier and happier as a result.

Nutrition

Intuitive eating goes hand in hand with intuitive fitness. I use this framework to guide you towards gentle nutrition and also how to fuel appropriately for particular sports events/races.

Wellness

All of this comes together to improve your mental wellbeing, by sleeping and eating well, moving your body and feeling happy and confident in yourself.

I’m Aimee and I’m a Level 3 qualified personal trainer. I am also a qualified pre and post natal trainer.

I believe that there is more to life than counting calories and stepping on scales, I’ve been down that rabbit hole and it is miserable. When I was younger, I exercised obsessively, and I didn’t give my body adequate fuel to do that. I’m super proud of my marathon times, but I suffered as a consequence of over training and under eating. ⠀

When I decided to make a change it was hard. Years of my brain telling my stomach it could only have cake if I’d run X miles were not easy messages to silence. My legs were itching to pound the pavements. But slowly, one day at a time I taught myself how to exercise for fun again and to eat when I was hungry rather than on a schedule. ⠀

Now, I feel rested and energised. I’m proud of my body and what it’s been through and I listen to it. ⠀

I want to help people feel the way I do and enjoy food and activity for what it is, fun.

I don’t believe that health equates to a smaller body size. I believe that you can be healthy at every size, hence why I never weigh or measure my clients.⠀

In so many cases better health is associated with weight loss, but actually this effect is from the improvement in health related behaviours such as exercise, nutrition and sleep, not being thinner.

Health at every size doesn’t mean that people are healthy at every size, but by using health promoting behaviours I will improve your fitness and wellbeing, which isn’t necessarily being a size X or ‘normal’ BMI.

How am I different to most PTs?

I want to help you achieve your goals with a sensible approach that can change your lifestyle in a positive way forever, rather than depriving and punishing your body. It’s not about losing inches, pounds or body fat percentages. If weight loss is a by-product of having a healthy, active lifestyle then so be it, but it should not be the sole reason for moving your body.

I want to improve your fitness and help you get faster, stronger, increase your flexibility and confidence and feel healthier and happier as a result.⠀

I want to give you the tools to help you improve your mental wellbeing, by sleeping and eating well, moving your body and feeling happy and confident in yourself.⠀

I don’t encourage over-exercise, it should be fun and a celebration of what your body can do, not a punishment for what you ate or how you think you look. I don’t encourage undereating, food should be enjoyed, not earned or felt guilty about. ⠀

I am here to help you with whatever your goals are, but I want you to listen to your body and remember that movement should be fun and an act of self-care for both your body and mind.
